Vietnam Anti-War Demonstration, New York City
Black and white photograph of a group of counter-protesters at a Vietnam anti-war demonstration in Bryant Park, located in the New York City borough of Manhattan. On this day in April of 1969, the Fifth Avenue Peace Parade committee organized the demonstration that assembled near Bryant Park with a rally that took place near the Central Park Bandshell and 5th Avenue. In the photograph, a few men are holding signs on the sidelines of the parade route in an effort to counterprotest the anti-war demonstration, including one with the antisemitic message, "Jews Have America Under Their Control, Communism is Jewish" and another promoting the National Renaissance Party nearby. Scanned from the negative.
