The college is located on an 876-acre campus in Ottawa county, 12 miles west of Grand Rapids . The land is bordered by the Grand River, where a bluff rises high above the west bank and divides into deep ravines separating a series of plateaus upon which the college buildings are located. GVSC provides a four-year academic program leading to the Bachelor of Arts (AB) degree. Major programs are offered in the following subjects: Humanities: English Language and Literature, French, German, Russian and Spanish Social Studies: Economics, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology Natural Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, and Physics Minor programs are offered in each of the subject areas (except Geology) and in the following additional subjects: Anthropology, Art, History of Science, Music, and Physical Education.
