There is an explanation of the college system, with further descriptions of each of the colleges (College of Arts and Science, Thomas Jefferson College, William James College, and College IV) interspersed throughout the video. It also showcases the various amenities and services on campus, including the video studio, computer center, the Loutit Hall of Science, Zumberge Library, and the foreign language lab. There are interviews with different offices on campus, including campus police, student housing, the Dean of Student Services, the Educational Studies Institute, and admissions. The video also includes information on physical education and athletics, health services, and general campus information. The video was produced by Karen Ronsully and Jeff Goldberg, students at William James College.

Getting to Know Grand Valley. This is a promotional video in color with audio. It begins with a group of faculty talking to each other about their classes and clips of campus. The narrator, David Compton, describes the curriculum at Grand Valley State College and the degrees offered. There are clips from different classroom experiences: a lecture, a discussion session, a science lab, and meeting one on one with professors for the new School of General Studies. The video describes the new science hall and Zumberge Library amenities, including the audio-visual collection. There is a brief discussion of financial aid, followed by an explanation of the strengths of a liberal education, and potential job prospects for graduates. Finally, the narrator describes the arts on campus, athletics, and student housing. There are credits at the end of the video. An earlier edition of this promotional video from 1968 uses much of the same footage and narration.
