Lewis at Magdalen College, Oxford, and succeeded Lewis as Professor of Medieval and Renaissance English at Cambridge University. He was a scholar of Middle English literature and was a fellow member of the Inklings literary society with Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. Scanned from the negative.
