In the photograph, the road is winding through farm fields with the farm buildings located in the background. Gilbert graduated with an M.S. in photography from the Institute of Design at the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1972 before becoming an Assistant Professor of Art at Wheaton College from 1972-1982 in Wheaton, Illinois.
