Correspondence from John Bennitt of Centreville, Michigan to his wife Charlotte, December 18, 1864. During this time, Bennitt describes the battles in Atlanta from the vantage point of the hospitals. The 20th Army Corps leaves Atlanta for Savannah. Bennitt_s request to the Cincinnati Army Medical Board to be examined for a surgical position in the Volunteer Staff Corps is approved. This group of letters is transcribed and footnoted in Chapter 8 of I Hope to Do My Country Service.
