Letters from John Q. Adams, 60th Illinois Infantry, to his wife Kate, and letter from Capt. S. Fogarty to Kate informing her of John's capture. John wrote to Kate from Tuscumbia, Alabama on August 24, 1862 and from Murfreesboro, Tennessee on August 13, 1863. On Oct. 7, 1863 Kate received a letter from Capt. S. Fogarty informing her that John was unharmed, but taken prisoner in Tennessee on Oct. 2, 1863. Related collection at the University of Southern Mississippi McCain Library.
